When did EVV start in Washington?

The official implementation in the state of Washington was January 1, 2024. More broadly, in 2016, Section 12006 of the 21st Century Cures Act established a requirement for all states to use an Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) system. Medicaid home health care services (HHCS) and personal care services initially were instructed to begin using EVV by January 1, 2023.

What data does an approved EVV system have to report?

At a minimum, a compatible EVV system must electronically verify:

• The type of service performed;
• The individual receiving the service;
• The individual providing the service;
• The date the service was provided;
• The location of service delivery; and
• The time the service begins and ends
